Pb2+ was oxidized to Pb4+ and was reduced to PbH4 gas by NaBH4, and the gas was reacted with Au3+ to form nanogold that exhibited a resonance Rayleigh scattering effect at 286 nm. Based on this, 0.2 x 10(-6)-33.6 x 10(-6) mol L-1 Pb can be detected, with a detection limit of 7.0 x 10(-8) mol L-1.
