We describe the isolation and development of 20 polymorphic microsatellite loci for the ornate dragon lizard Ctenophorus ornatus. Characterization of these loci in 29 individuals from a single population yielded between five and twenty alleles per locus. Expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.32 to 1.00 and only one locus deviated from Hardy-Weinberg expectations. There was no evidence of linkage disequilibrium between any pair of loci.
