Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions involving a carbene migratory insertion process have been developed rapidly during the past ten years. Such a type of coupling reactions provides useful methodologies for the construction of carboncarbon and carbonheteroatom bonds. On the basis of the carbene migratory insertion process, catalytic cascade reactions have also been designed and developed, affording versatile methods for the construction of complex molecules. In this review, four types of transition-metal-catalyzed cascade reactions involving the carbene migratory insertion process are discussed.
