The aim of this work is to study of various parameters related to the mechanical characteristics of materials, to explain the phenomena of fatigue and rupture of structures; and contribute to the study of these phenomena in a welded joint in order to develop a method of analysis, adapted to this type of junction. For a better comprehension of the process leading to the fatigue and rupture of the welded structures, we checked two approaches of fracture mechanics, a global approach (J, CTOD) and a local approach (Rice-Tracey model based on the growth rate of cavities R/R-0) involved in the studies of harmfulness of the defects of the welded joints and the sensitivity of the structure to any change in the field of stress and strain at the crack tip.
