A series of novel cost-effective nanocomposite photocatalysts, containing a triphenylamine functionalized bithiazole-metal complex and C-60, have been synthesized and systematically characterized. The bithiazole-metal complexes with C-60 serve both as a photosensitizer and a photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution under visible-light irradiation, and their photocatalytic activities are approximately 4-6 times higher than those of the corresponding complexes.
