Hybrid architectures often possess advanced functions and properties than single component materials. Here Au@AgCl particles are prepared through simply mixing HAuCl4 aqueous solution with Si colloid induced by laser ablation in ethanol, and subsequent addition of silver acetate. The formation process of the Au@AgCl architectures is discussed in detail. In this paper, Si nanoparticles induced by laser ablation in ethanol was used as an inorganic reductive agent, which is crucial and novel to the successful fabrication of the hybrid Au@AgCl architectures. Assembly of different materials with distinguished shapes is realized without complicated modifications. Such prepared Au@AgCl particles are expected to have good photocatalytic properties under visible light illumination.
