Solar cells on the basis of nanomaterials have attracted tremendous research zeal in recent years. The efficiency of this kind of solar cells largely depends on the deposition of nanomaterials on a conductive electrode. In this review article, techniques of semiconductor quantum dots deposition for applications in extremely thin absorber solar cells will be introduced in detail. The basic concepts, principles, and mechanisms of quantum dot deposition will be discussed. Some of the representative performances of the extremely thin absorber solar cells will be presented wherever necessary. A concluding remark will be provided to bring out some clues for the future research in this field.
