A good compromise between the performance of road tunnel lighting, energy and materials saving and driving safety has been found by means of a semi-transparent tension structure of polyester set just before the entrance to the tunnel. This tension structure has extended the threshold zone out of the tunnel itself with the aim of using sunlight for lighting purposes. The positive results obtained are presented in this work.
