Due to the rapid response, the high sensitivity, the good selectivity and the experimental convenience of the electrochemical DNA biosensor, its applications have attracted broad interest. This article reviews electrochemical DNA biosensors and different methods proposed for their construction to overcome their limitations in selectivity and sensitivity. We also discuss their performance and future prospects. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
