This review covers recent developments in surfactant-based extraction methods, with the aim of highlighting some of the most important aspects of micellar systems together with their applications in analysis. It also compares the phase-transfer methodology of different surfactant-based extraction methods (e.g., cloud-point extraction) with coacervative extraction methods using different kinds of surfactant. It includes factors affecting the extraction efficiency of the methods in some recent applications. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
