This review highlights some of the more recent advances in the development of organically modified Micelle Templated Silicas as catalysts for cleaner processing. The review focuses predominantly on catalysts prepared via one step co-condensation routes. Examples are provided of acid catalysts, base catalysts, oxidation, metal-centred catalysis, and enantioselective catalysis within the pores of the materials. Advances in the design and use of bifunctional catalysts are also covered. Two key concepts relating to catalytic activity and selectivity, diffusion and confinement, are also discussed.
