The chemical synthesis of new deoxyvitisins (pyrano-3-deoxyanthocyanidins) is reported herein. Three different types of compounds were synthesised from the reaction between two deoxyanthocyanidins (deoxypeonidin and deoxymalvidin) and pyruvic acid, vinyloxy-trimethylsilane and acetone-1,3-dicarboxylic acid. The structure of the new compounds has been characterised by means of visible, MS and NMR spectroscopies. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
