A catalyst-free aqueous mediated C-H activation of methyl quinolines and addition to various beta-nitro styrenes were executed under Microwave irradiation. Catalyst-free, additive free, simple workup, clean reaction conditions, easy isolation and environmentally benign medium are the best features of the present protocol. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
