A near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent chemodosimeter for F- was developed on the basis of dicyanomethylene-4H-chromene derivative, with several merits such as a high off/on ratio response, NIR fluorescence, and high selectivity to F-. The F- triggered specific Si-O cleavage of DCPOSi to release DCPO- is responsible for the dramatic color change and distinct NIR fluorescence enhancement at 718 nrr. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd.
