Enantiospecific first total synthesis of 7a(S)-p-hydroxyphenopyrrozin

An enantiospecific first total synthesis of metabolite 7a(S)-p-hydroxyphenopyrrozin 2, isolated from the cultured fungi Chromocleista sp. has been achieved starting from readily and abundantly available L-proline.
