Organocatalytic alpha-amination of alpha,alpha-disubstituted aldehydes promoted by 9-amino-(9-deoxy)-epi-quinine is described. alpha-Hydrazino aldehydes bearing a quaternary stereogenic center are obtained in good to excellent yields and enantioselectivities.
