Herein a water-soluble 'click' modified coumarin-based fluorescent probe for hydrogen peroxide is reported. This probe shows significant intensity increases (up to fivefold) in near-green fluorescence upon reaction with hydrogen peroxide, and good selectivity over other reactive oxygen species.
