Chemical investigation of an extract of the marine sponge Xestospongia yielded a suite of pentacyclic compounds, including two new xestosaprol derivatives. Xestosaprol D (1) and E (2) are regioisomers, whose structures were defined through analysis of spectroscopic data. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
