A ruthenium (Ru) Catalyst Supported on magnetic nanoparticles (NiFe2O4) has been successfully synthesized and used for hydrogenation of alkynes at room temperature as well as transfer hydrogenation of a number of carbonyl compounds under microwave it-radiation conditions. The catalyst shows excellent selectivity towards the desired products with very high yield even after 5 repeated uses. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
