Cytototoxic linear acetylenes, miyakosynes A-F, were isolated from a marine sponge Petrosia sp. Their structures were elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analyses and chemical methods. The absolute configuration of the secondary alcohols at each terminus was determined by the modified Mosher's analysis. Miyakosynes show cytotoxicity against HeLa cells at submicromolar concentrations. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
