The formation of thermocapillary structures on the surface of falling liquid film of 68% water solution of glycerol has been experimentally studied using a high-speed IR camera under different conditions on the heating surface. The longitudinal temperature gradient is found to affect significantly the formation of rivulets. It is shown that external perturbations cause a transition between structures of different types.
