A new one-dimensional Mn(II) complex, {[Mn-2(HL)(2)(H2O)(4)]center dot 2DMF}(n) (H3L = 2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid), has been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TG analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The singlecrystal XRD study revealed that the complex crystallizes in a space group P-1 and has a 1D Zigzag chain. In addition, the variable temperature magnetic susceptibility of complex 1 was measured and weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the neighboring Mn(II) ions was found.
