Surface modification of nano-beta-SiC whiskers with titanate coupling reagent of NDZ-105 was performed to prepare beta-SiCw/celluloid nano-composites via powder blending method. The surface performance of modified nano-beta-SiC whiskers was characterized and analyzed using Zeta potential, XPS, FTIR and TGA. The results indicated that a chemical bonding of NDZ-105 to beta-SiC whiskers film and a layer of organic single molecule membrane were formed, and the maximum mass fraction of NDZ-105 coated on the surface of beta-SiC whiskers measured was only about 1.88%. Meantime, mechanical tests revealed that the tensile, flexural and impact properties of the nano-composites obviously enhanced with the increase mass fraction of NDZ-105 modified beta-SiC whiskers, and these properties were optimal with 5% mass fraction of beta-SiC whiskers which was modified by 3% mass fraction of NDZ-105.
