Single-phase orthorhombic LiMnO2 (o-LiMnO2) powders were synthesized by hydrothermal technique. According to the Raman spectra in the temperature range of 81-305K and magnetic susceptibility curves in the temperature range of 2-300 K, characteristic structure model softening relates to the magnetic phase transition temperature (T-c), which could be ascribed to the coupling between lattice and spin. The abnormal temperature dependence of the Raman shift near 647, 553 and 409 cm(-1) appears in the temperature ranges of 125-275 K and 81-110 K, which could be understood in terms of spin-phonon coupling.
