The composition of 2 at% Cr-doped ZnO nanoparticles was synthesized by the hydrothermal method under high magnetic field. Morphologies of the sample obtained under high magnetic field are grown along c-axis direction. The sample prepared under 4 Tesla magnetic field reveals room temperature ferromagnetic behavior, but the sample fabricated under no magnetic field shows paramagnetism. Raman and photoluminescence spectra analysis suggested that the hybridization between Zinc vacancies and Cr dopants contributes to the origin of ferromagnetism in Cr-doped ZnO. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
