Nitrogen-doped K2La2Ti3O10 photocatalyst was prepared by solid phase method, and further dealt with a wet process followed by calcination in an N-2 atmosphere. X-ray diffraction, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the catalyst. Photocatalytic activities were evaluated using H-2 evolution from an aqueous methanol solution and decomposition of organic dyes under UV and visible light irradiation, respectively. Under the irradiation of light with wavelength larger than 400 and 290 nm, the photocatalytic activity of nitrogen-doped K2La2Ti3O10 was higher than that of pure K2La2Ti3O10. Especially, we found that nitrogen-doped K2La2Ti3O10 showed higher activity than TiO2 (P25) in decomposition of organic dyes under visible light irradiation. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V.
