Infrared sensitive small molecule organic photovoltaic cells were fabricated using a tin (II) phthalocyanine (SnPc) and C-60 bulk heterojunction layer. Molybdenum oxide (MoO3) was used as an interlayer between the ITO anode and light absorbing layers. We found that the short-circuit current of the photovoltaic cells with MoO3 interlayer was substantially enhanced, resulting in a 45% enhancement in power conversion efficiency. The maximum power conversion efficiency is 1.31% under 1 sun standard AM1.5G solar illumination of 100 mW/cm(2). (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
