Graphene research is at the interface of many distinct disciplines of science and physics with the potential to address the great current global challenges. Effective means for producing industrial scale quantities of this exciting material are under development. Aqueous based methods are highly attractive due to low costs and limited environmental impact. Expanding the use of graphene into new applications is dependent upon the ability to make this unique material compatible with a range of other chemistries, structures and technologies. Modification of the surface properties of graphene with polymers provides a facile method for achieving this goal.
