Non-aqueous emulsions are peculiar cases of emulsions, however with a much broader range of applications than the traditional oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions. A quasi-infinite number of solvents can be used for the generation of such emulsions. Applications of non-aqueous emulsions include water-sensitive reactions (e. g. some ionic polymerization in miniemulsion), and reactions that require high temperatures to be carried out.
