We present a glucose sensor by modification of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with graphene oxide (GO), NiO nanofibers (NiONFs) and Nation (NA). NiONFs were prepared by the facile electrospinning technique followed by calcination. And GO was synthesized by Hummers method. The modified electrode was pretreated by the electrochemical reduction. The sensor was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The sensor exhibited high sensitivity (1100 mu AmM-1 cm(-2)), fast response time (less than 5 s), low detection limit of 0.77 mu M (S/N = 3), long term stability, and excellent anti-fouling ability for glucose determination. The sensor was further applied to detection of glucose in human blood serum sample, and the results accorded with those of commercial test. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
