Porous beta-Bi2O3 nanoplates were synthesized for the first time on FTO substrate via chemical bath deposition followed by annealing. They showed higher photoinduced current density than nonporous ones though the former possessed a larger band gap. The as prepared photoelectrodes exhibited superior stability in aqueous solutions. The results illustrate that the porous Bi2O3 nanoplate films have potential applications in photoelectrocatalysis.
