Researchers have revealed that myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDCs) help in the pathology of cancerous diseases, thus increasing the number of cells susceptible to cancer. MDCs are potent suppressors of several factes of fthe immune system. By damping antitumor responses of the immune system, MDCs might contribute both to the growth of cancers and to the failure of immunotherapies. In addition to this, cytokines trigger the accumulation of MDCs, thus developing chronic inflammation.
