A series of cross-linked chitosan (XCs)-filled chitosan (Cs) matrix, with filler contents of 0 to 12 wt/v% were fabricated using a casting method. Thermal properties of the composites were examined using thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Addition of XCs to 10 wt/v% increased 2.7% on thermal properties of Cs film. Consequently, the glass transition temperature (T-g) is enhanced from 51 to 58 degrees C for a similar composition of XCs. Results could be related to good interfacial interactions of Cs matrix and XCs filler through formation of interhydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions.
