CAE plays an increasingly important role in the areas of plastic product design, injection mold design, and process optimization. This paper presents an integrated VR-based CAE system for the whole injection molding process, which includes filling, packing, cooling, and shrinkage stages. The structure design, modularization, and object modeling is discussed in the system design. And the OpenGL is selected for developing a virtual environment and stereoscopic view. With the integration of VR, visualization, and numerical simulation technologies, the overall system is a new powerful tool to resemble the physical process cycle of injection molding.
