This paper describes basic of circular polarization, fundamental concepts, theory and review study of the circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (CP DRA) over the last three decades. Wide 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth, impedance bandwidth, compactness and high gain are demonstrated on the basis of attainable performance of CP DRA designed. The latest techniques for generating the circular polarization as well as enhancing the performance are also covered. The latest advancements in single-point feed, multiple point feed and sequential rotation CP DRA design techniques are also investigated. CP DRA catches the potential application in the Satellite communication, mobile communication, GPS, WLAN, WIMAX, Mobile communication and Radar system.
