Aiming to make narrow nanoribbons the unzipping process of nanotubes with deformation is studied using first-principles calculation With the increase of deformation the most stressed C-C bonds become more and more reactive to oxygen implying that the unzipping path can be tuned via elegant deformation modulation and this is verified (C) 2010 Elsevier B V All rights reserved
