The Fisher-Shannon information product and plane for atoms are presented analytically assuming Thomas-Fermi-Gaspar statistical model. A comparison with the Hartree-Fock densities reveals that the atomic shell structure is inadequately expressed information theoretically in the statistical model. The shape complexity measure of Lopez et al. is found to have a better large Z dependence than the one obtained from non-relativistic Hartree-Fock densities. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
