We present a lambda-nucleon Skyrme force suitable for reproducing the observed binding energies of the whole range of known light and heavy single-lambda hypernuclei with A = 5, ..., 208. Notable exceptions such as Be-9(Lambda), featuring a well-developed cluster structure, are identified and examined in comparison with a cluster approach for the hypernuclear structure.
