ZnO nanostructures are fabricated by citric acid-assisted annealing process. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), FTIR spectrophotometer, ultraviolet-visible-near IR spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction pattern of these samples shows that ZnO nanostructures are single crystalline and pure. The effect of morphology of ZnO nanostructures on the optical properties of ZnO nanostructures is analyzed on the basis of these results. Our results clearly demonstrate that tunable optical properties of ZnO nanostructures can be attained by changing the morphology of ZnO nanostructures. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
