Charge currents driven by the spin dynamics in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction are investigated numerically. The spin current induced by the precession of the local magnetic moment can be converted to the charge current assisted by the spin-orbit interaction. We use the recursive Green's function method and the Brouwer's formula for calculating the pumping current in multiterminal mesoscopic systems. Our results show that the pumping charge current has both AC and DC components. The amplitude of the pumped current increases by increasing of the strength of the spin-orbit interaction. The current is realized in an out-of-equilibrium situation, and could be considered as a battery operated by magnetism. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
