A summary and critical analysis are given of recent results on superconductivity in diamond, Si, SiC, III-V and IV-VI semiconductors, as well as graphite and fulleriles intercalated with alkali metals. Superconductivity in Ill-V semiconductors is questioned, and proposals are outlined for further enhancement of the transition temperature in diamond and intercalated graphite. (c) 2009 Elsevier B.V.
