A series of carboxamide derivatives of amino acids were synthesized, characterized and their antibacterial properties were evaluated. These compounds were synthesized by reaction of cycloalkylamine with N-phthaloyl amino acids and characterized using IR, H-1-NMR, and mass spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against bacteria S. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa and S. typhimurium Some of these compounds exhibited moderate to good activity, whereas some were inactive.
