The dicationic bis(gold)-biarylphosphine pi-alkene complexes {(P-P)[Au(pi-alkene)](2)}(2+)2SbF(6)(-) [P-P = 2,2'-bis(di-tert-butylphosphino)biphenyl; alkene = isobutylene, 1-pentene] were isolated in >95% yield from reaction of alkene with a 1:2 mixture of (P-P)(AuCl)(2) and AgSbF6 and were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
