Two new tetracationic heterobimetallacycles were prepared from a bis-pyridine amide ligand and metal (Pd and Pt) acceptors. We found that both self-assembled heterobimetallacycles bind and unwind supercoiled DNA, as established by photophysical and gel electrophoresis analyses, respectively.
