Isomerization reactions of allylic alcohols into carbonyl compounds can be efficiently performed in both water and in ionic liquids using [Ru(eta(3):eta(3)-C10H16)Cl(kappa O-2-CH3CO2)] as catalyst. In both cases, the catalytic system could be recycled up to five times.
