Sterostreins A-E (1, 2, 3a/3b, 4, and 5), five novel terpenoids, were isolated from cultures of the mushroom fungus Stereum ostrea BCC 22955. Sterostrein A (1) exhibited antimalarial activity (IC(50) 2.3 mu g/mL) and cytotoxicity (IC(50) 5.3-38 mu g/mL).
