Catalytic decarboxylative reactions are attractive as biomimetic reactions and environmentally friendly reaction processes. In this review, the origin and recent development of organocatalytic enantioselective decarboxylative reactions of malonic acid half oxy- or thioesters, or beta-ketoacids are summarized.
