A new procedure is developed for the synthesis of alpha-aminophosphonates containing thiazole[5,4-b]pyridine moiety from conveniently available starting materials. The target compounds were characterized by infrared, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, P-31 NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anticancer activities against PC-3, Bcap-37, H460 cells in vitro by the MTT method. Compounds 3b and 3f are highly effective against PC-3, Bcap-37 cells and good to H460 cells. Further study is necessary to find out the potential antitumor activities.
