A selective metamaterial absorber for active and passive compatible infrared stealth was designed, which aims at 1.54 mu m laser and mid-far infrared atmosphere windows. Simulation results show that the absorption at 1.54 mu m reaches 99%, which can effectively suppresses the scattering or reflecting 1.54 mu m laser signals. The emissivity in the band of 3-5 mu m and 8-14 mu m lower than 10% and 6% respectively, yet higher than 75% in the band of 5.9-7 mu m. The thermal emission characteristic analysis reveals that the structure can suppress 90% and 94.9% blackbody radiation in 3-5 mu m and 8-14 mu m respectively. The suppression can maintain 90% across a wide temperature range from 300 K to 1200 K. Compared with stealth coating material with emissivity of 0.06, the radiant energy of absorber is higher than coating in 5-8 mu m at the same temperature, which means good quality of radiative cooling. The structure can keep good performance at large angle incidence for different polarization wave.
