We report on the development of a high-peak-power, single-longitudinal-mode and tunable injection-seeded terahertz-wave parametric generator using MgO:LiNbO3, which operates at room temperature. The high peak power (> 120 W) is enough to allow easy detection by commercial and calibrated pyroelectric detectors, and the spectral resolution (< 10 GHz) is the Fourier transform limit of the sub-nanosecond terahertz-wave pulse. The tunability (1.2 - 2.8 THz) and the small footprint size (A3 paper, 29.7 x 42 cm) are suitable for a variety of applications. (C) 2012 Optical Society of America
